Interviews
The interview is a personal process and one which requires subtle probing and significant research. More importantly, a successful interview requires being able to find common ground with your subject and the ability to put that person at ease.
In this section, I have chosen three very different results from the interview process. The first, an interview that ran nationally with Francis Cardinal George of Chicago*, addressing some of the greater areas of spirituality and Catholic confusion. The second, a nationally-run feature story that was the result of tailing John Thavis for a day. John serves currently as bureau chief at Catholic News Service in Rome and has traveled with the pope for more than 25 years**. Finally, a 20-minute phone interview with retired Hewlett-Packard Vice President Bob Wayman resulted in this introduction speech used during the 2007 Kellogg Alumni Awards Dinner at Northwestern University.
